DEISAL IS ON TRIAL
Hi my name is Diesel and I am looking for a loving person or family to take care of me. I am approx. 18 months old and I am a Kelpie/German Shepherd X as you can tell by my colourings and my big gorgeous ears. While in foster care I currently co-live with dogs and cats and we all get along fine. In fact, I am at my best and most comfortable when I am with other dogs (any size suits me) and I have such a lovely temperament that I have often assist in the settling and socialisation of new dogs that have come into care.
I love my daily walks and am so good off lead that when we are away from roads I am often off lead as my foster career knows I will stay within a close radius and will come back when called. I am also very good on-lead and after the initial start will happily trot along at your pace. However, being a young active dog means I will need off lead exercise all/most days and another dog to play with. I love the water but like to keep my feet on the ground.
I am learning to respond to my foster carer and give my full attention when a treat is offered. My carer thinks I am really smart because I am quick to learn and respond well to commands such as sit, wait/stay and come. I am house trained and although not used often, I am also crate trained. I prefer to be inside with my human however I am also happy to be outside too.
I am a very quiet dog so wont disturb your neighbours, or your sleep.
I had a hard start to life and as a result I can be shy initially and hesitant around new people, especially men but given time and living in the right environment has shown that I have proven myself to be trust worthy and loyal. While I’ve been in foster care I have found that a regular routine of daily exercise and visits to the parks has allowed me to meet other humans while they are in the company of other dogs and this has helped my confidence. On several occasions I have now taken treats from people in the parks including regular males that I see. This means that while I take a while to warm to new people I have shown that I can do so, and even want to, but will need my new human/s to be patient and let me settle in at my own pace.
My new home will need to have a friend for me to live and play with as I learn and feel most comfortable around another dog. With a regular routine and a pocketful of treats, you will see that I love pats and brushes and that I am just happy to sit by your side and rest my head in your lap so you can rub my ears. Despite my shyness around new people, my foster carer says I am actually the easiest dog she has had to foster due to my lovely sweet quiet nature.
